The Association
SwissHoldings is a cross-sector business association organized as a nonprofit organization. Founded in 1942 under the name Industrie-Holding, it currently comprises 62 multinational companies in the industrial and service sectors (excluding the financial and insurance sectors) that are headquartered in or have a strong presence in Switzerland.
In 2024, our member companies’ stock of foreign direct investment totaled approximately CHF 460 billion, accounting for around 34% of Switzerland’s total foreign direct investment.
Areas of Expertise
SwissHoldings represents the shared interests of multinational companies headquartered in Switzerland or with a significant presence in the country. The association’s primary focus is on promoting and safeguarding attractive, reliable, and competitive framework conditions for Switzerland as a business location.
SwissHoldings addresses key issues in economic, tax, and legal policy and monitors national and international developments relevant to its member companies. Its areas of focus include corporate and capital markets law, competition law, tax policy, trade and investment, sustainability regulation, financial and non-financial reporting, and Switzerland’s economic relations with key international markets.
SwissHoldings member companies account for nearly two-thirds of the total market capitalization of the Swiss stock market, making them the largest group of issuers on the SIX Swiss Exchange.
The member companies are major employers, with more than 1.8 million employees worldwide, including nearly 200,000 in Switzerland.
How We Work
SwissHoldings works in close collaboration with its member companies. In specialized working groups, experts share their knowledge and experience, develop common positions, and devise practical solutions. The secretariat brings these positions and solutions into political and regulatory processes at an early stage and maintains an ongoing dialogue with policymakers, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
