SwissHoldings: A sustainable and favorable framework for foreign direct investment

Foreign direct investments (FDI) in the form of cross border investments in affiliate companies and permanent establishments are a main driver for globalization. FDI boost the international exchange of capital, know-how and manpower and are therefore a key factor for growth and wealth. The Swiss economy attracts a substantial amount of foreign investments and, at the same time, holds record-high FDI abroad. SwissHoldings, in its lobbying activities, takes care of a wide range of matters relating to FDI. Hereby, we strive hereby for an efficient and up-to-date framework for FDI both on the bilateral and the multinational level. Such a framework is a prerequisite for stimulating the world wide economic growth and is a precondition for successful business activities of our multinational enterprises (MNE). Essential elements of such a framework are an open access to global markets, legal certainty and non-discrimination.
 

Our objectives and positions 

SwissHoldings represents the interests of direct investors operating out of Switzerland and sees as its mission to ensure free market access for multinational enterprises.

  • Maintaining a proper balance between duties of states and the enterprises’ obligations under the updated OECD MNE Guidelines.
     

  • Extension of the network of bilateral free trade agreements (FTA) and investment treaties (BIT) with economically important countries and conclusion of WTO Doha round.
     

     

  • Promoting public understanding for the significance of the worldwide activities of Swiss multinational companies for the Swiss economy.
